The Burlington Artists League in conjunction with the BAL Fine Arts Gallery will be hosting its Senior Artists Judged Competition that will be open to artists 60 years of age or older.

Works are due to the BAL Gallery on April 27 and 28.  The Opening Reception is on Sunday, May 2, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

The entries will be judged by Lee Fowlkes of the Caswell County Arts Council. Awards of $150.00 first place, $100.00 second place, and $75.00 third place will be announced at the reception.

Last year's first place winner was Jim Teague, with his watercolor, "Nature's Wonderland."

Art work must be submitted Tuesday, April 27. and Wednesday, April 28. from 1:00 to 7:00 PM at the Burlington Artists League Fine Arts Gallery. Entry forms must be completed and fees must be submitted at the time art for competition is received. We can only recieve original art completed within the past two years, of two-dimensional media, including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, and collage. No copies or class work will be accepted. Work cannot have been previously shown in a BAL competition. Due to the family demographics of the Gallery location, we are not able to display nudes in the gallery.

We reserve the right to reject work that is considered to be objectionable for any reason. For the $25.00 entry fee the artist may enter up to three pieces. The entry fee for members of BAL will be $15.00. The Burlington Artists League welcomes new members for an annual membership fee of $25.00. The forms are available at the BAL Fine Arts Gallery or on line at: http://www.balartists.com. Submitted art must remain on exhibit the duration of the show. Artwork pick-up is scheduled for Monday, May 31. during normal gallery hours 12 to 8 PM.

The BAL Fine Arts Gallery is located adjacent to Sears in the Burlington Square Mall at the corner of South Church Street and Huffman Mill Road in Burlington NC. If coming from out of town and traveling on Interstate-40 you would take Exit 141 and travel north on Huffman Mill Road about 1.5 miles and the Mall will be on your left.

Gallery hours are 12 noon to 8:00 PM Monday through Friday, and 10 AM to 9:00 PM on Saturday. The Gallery is closed onm Sundays except when special events are scheduled. The Gallery phone number is 336-584-3005. Artwork must be wired for hanging and may not exceed 72 united inches excluding the frame. United inches are calculated by adding the width and height of the art size or mat size.
