Winners of the Burlington Artists League’s Annual Small Art Competition for BAL members were announced at a rescheduled reception on Saturday, February 6 at the Burlington Artists League Fine Arts Gallery at Burlington Square Mall. There were 22 artists entered into the competition that included all media of two-dimensional art. A perimeter of the competition was that the size of the art, including the frame, could not be larger than 32 unified inches, the measure of the width added to the height of the art piece. The judge for the competition was regionally known artist Rodney Moser. Rodney also teaches art at the Elon School. As Mr. Moser made his selections of the winning entries he made short comments about the pieces that have been posted with the pieces in the show so that everyone can see what the judge saw that was outstanding about the selections. The first place winner was an Oil painting “Rockin’ Under the Christmas Tree” painted by Windy Lampson. The second place spot was taken by a watercolor painting called “Death Valley – Greensboro” created by Jamie Hansen. The third winning position was a pastel painting “Autumn By the Fence” by Bill Gramley. Additionally there were three entries that received Honorable Mentions. Bill Gramley received an HM for a pastel titled “Lean On Me”. Windy Lampson also received an HM presentation on her oil painting of “Lucy”. And Shirley Beyer was awarded her HM for an acrylic painting “Tropicana”. The reasonably priced art will remain on exhibit and for sale at the BAL Fine Arts Gallery for the remainder of the month of February. Operating hours are Monday through Friday 12 noon to 8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM until 9 PM. Please visit the BAL website WWW.BALartists.com for additional information.
