Friendship Adult Day Services’ wants to invite you to our Benefit Art Show and Silent Auction on Tuesday, October 6th from 6:00-9:00pm at the Paramount Theater. We will be featuring a Wine tasting, Art show, Christmas card sale, and Silent Auction. We will be showing a short documentary, "Just A Guy," filmed by Betty Hatch and Ray Johnson of Elon University while silent auction winners are determined.
Additionally, this is a request for donated work for the silent auction. The silent auction items we have so far include participant art work, 1 print, a pottery piece, 2 $100 certificates off estate planning, 2 free certificates for tax return preparation, gift baskets, a free massage, and a Bald Head Island Weekend Get Away, etc.
Proceeds from the night’s event go towards the maintenance and expansion of our therapeutic art program for community members who attend our adult day service program. Research suggests many benefits from engaging in art ventures but a noted benefit is the relief of stress and burden and the assistance with communication it can provide. Many of our participants have diminished communication or memory skills and can often experience stress and frustration that accompanies that dilemma. We note that utilization of our services is consistently higher on days when we can offer the therapeutic art. It is our unique offering among day services in our community.
