26th Annual Fine Arts Competition

The BAL show at the Alamance County Arts Council ends on Saturday, September 12th.  If you have work at the arts council, be sure to pick it up!

Kathy Alderman and Elaine Pelkey-Herrick are the featured artists in the BAL Gallery for September and will be hosting an opening reception on Sunday September 20 from 2 to 4 pm.  Their show will hang through September.  Be sure to support our featured artists.

Be sure to attend the BAL meeting on September 17, at the new time of 7:00 - 8:30.  I have no plans for a program after the business meeting.  If you have any ideas, or are interested in volunteering to help with a program, please contact me.

Make It and Take it
 The children's event "Make It and Take It” at the Burlington Square mall was a huge success. The BAL would like to plan another, closer to Christmas. We had a great article about it published in the Times-News. Read the article online here:

Cedar Ridge Apartment Show:

Gift Certificate:
The BAL has just been awarded a $50 gift certificate from Dick Blick, thanks to you! We have been registered for a referral program where we are awarded gift certificates for information about our members. Dick Blick will send a catalog out to our artists. Look for your Dick Blick Catalog soon. The BAL can use the gift certificate to buy supplies for our next community program.

BAL Postcard
Everyone should be getting a postcard soon in the mail about some important upcoming dates for the BAL. These postcards were mailed to old and new members, and people in the community interested in the arts.

The BAL got a lovely thank you note from the American Cancer Society for the wig heads that the BAL worked on. The note follows:

Carole Donovan:
Her show at the Roasted Coffee Depot in Graham comes to an end this month. It has been her most successful show and she is thrilled to have sold 6 pieces.
